NBA superstar LeBron James has partnered with Swiss luxury watch company Richard Mille for a good cause.

The Los Angeles Lakers athlete and Richie Millie debuted a limited-edition watch called the Richard Mille’s RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph LeBron James.

The watch, which had only 150 pieces, sold out within hours of its debut at Fanatics Fest, according to information shared with AFROTECH™.

The watch pays homage to James being named the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer on Feb. 7, 2023, a record previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, according to ESPN.

Additionally, the design choice of yellow and green accents is an ode to the LeBron James Family Foundation.

The James Foundation was launched in 2004 and exists to “positively affect the lives of children and young adults through education and co-curricular educational initiatives,” AFROTECH™ previously reported.

The foundation’s imprint can be found in Akron, OH, James’ hometown.

In 2017, the foundation launched the I Promise School in partnership with Akron Public Schools, local leaders, parents and educators. The school’s inaugural class graduated in 2020 with 193 students, all of whom will benefit from the school’s tuition-free education model, which is designed to support those who continue their studies at Kent State, the University of Akron, or Stark State College, per AFROTECH™.

The foundation also considers additional resources that are important to ensure a student can thrive, such as short-term affordable housing through I PROMISE Village and healthcare services at the I PROMISE HealthQuarters.

Through the I Promise Program, the Lebron James Family Foundation has catered to over 1,600 students and their families, all of whom will be further supported through James’ latest collaboration with Richard Mille.

Proceeds from the sold-out watch will go to the foundation.

Every detail has a meaning and it looks and feels incredible to wear,” James said in a press release. “I want to thank Richard Mille for this unbelievable opportunity and more importantly, the partnership in this unique edition.
